You Taught Me Everthing

A table with books of poetry for sale.

You taught me everything I needed to know,

Even things I didn’t have to show.

You taught me to be patient and kind,

You taught me to love and keep that as a piece of mind.

You taught me everything and I thank you for that,

Even through sunsets and rainy days as a matter of fact.

As you hugged me tight and told me “it’s going to be okay,”

Since tomorrow will bring another day.

You taught me to be pleasant and to love always,

No matter what happens in my heart it will stay.

You ask me to sore with butterfly wings,

I did as you said and now my voice sings.

You taught me everything I needed to know

As a mother, father, friend down below.

You kept me dreaming and keeping them true,

I want to tell you now, everyone, thank-you.
